When darkness comes creeping
Curfew starts peeping
A wail is heard from a far
The crack of the baton on someone’s flesh
Heavily boned is the recipient
Locks tightly fastened not to let anyone in
But a sneeze will have the neighborhood snitching, sirens lingering
“Test all and guard them as we await the results”
Shocking how we run to enforce and not help
Trained to attack brutally
Where is your mask?
Are we on the look out for the disease or on Indiscipline watch.
No thought just whack like your overtime depends on it
For zero reasons at all, parading themselves seeking accolades
Heros of modern day times they term themselves.
“Stay at home” and eat what they retort as they receive a bulldozer response
” Moving forward there’s a lockdown” how do we get to work? Work from home.. if I could the commute wouldn’t be necessary.
” Leaders should take a paycut” no we have families to cater for and loans to pay, reduce tax then? No we have an economy to run
” We have been let go by our employers” mum is the word by them
“Education must continue online” we don’t have electricity let alone access
“Maintain hygiene and keep clean” but the water services are disconnected
“If you elect me I’ll make sure..” create your own employment as youths is their advice
” Lights camera action” relief food flagging off with pride.
“We’ve got budgets in billions for public works disbursed” but where’s the money?
Touring for allowance and no change ” where is the covid benchmarking team?”
“Our health system is the best” a cough and you’re rushed abroad leaving us to share a bed when admitted.
My fellow citizens ” spare us the cliche”
We are sick and tired of being sick and tired
Rock bottom for sure has a basement to hit indeed
